Before you head over to our newborn portfolio and get lost in the sea of pure baby bliss, we wanted to introduce you to our style and how we approach newborn photography. As lifestyle photographers in general, we are inspired to tell an authentic story with our lens. One made up by real moments both big and small. Making memories that will lead back to where one has been and other frames that foreshadow where one may go. Your life, your feelings, as they happen, in your unique story. Our inspiration for capturing your child’s very first portrait session is no different! We use your home, nursery and personal surroundings that reflect your…wait for it….. “lifestyle”, as our backdrop. Hobbies, interests, family, relationships…. simply put , you! You help us preserve this precious new chapter and your baby’s first days in the world, just by giving us a glimpse into your life during this exciting time! So you see, your sweet squishy new family member is really the only prop we need! We make suggestions and direct you here and there to insure your gallery is filled with tender moments, sweet cuddles and chubby baby toes , but we are mindful to do it in a way that embodies who you are as a family. We also set aside time to shoot detail photos of your new little bundle alone as well some precious sleeping baby pictures. That said, our main focus is to deliver images that depict the deep bond between parent and child and the celebration of a new little life! Eeeekkk! There is nothing better than being in the presence of a wrinkly newbie!
So while we admire and respect many talented newborn photographers who specialize in adorable curled up babies sleeping on cleaver props, that is just not the direction our sessions go in. We do always have some swaddles and items on hand to help the session along but we won’t be rolling up with baskets and backdrops etc.
*We do not consider hats, blankets and heirloom pieces as props and are always happy to try and incorporate them if at all possible. The baby usually runs the show so no promise: )
